Therapy Services

Our services are confidential as we are bound by the professional ethics, standards, and laws of Pennsylvania and the federal government.

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy is a process by which each person (child or adult) engages with a therapist to identify psychosocial stressors, define treatment goals, and meet regularly to assess progress toward these goals. The following therapy descriptions might be used by your therapist at Caldwell Family Counseling. You can ask more about the approaches at your session.

Sandtray Therapy

Sandtray therapy allows people to work through problems held in the unconscious, or out of a person’s awareness, and from the part of memory which is held by body and out of a person’s ability to express through words.

Internal Family Systems

IFS is a transformative, evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal by accessing and loving their protective and wounded inner parts. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. We also all have a core Self. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal. By helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts, IFS creates inner and outer connectedness.

Play Therapy

Play Therapy is a type of mental health, educational, or developmental intervention that is designed to help children grow up as happy and well-adjusted as possible.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy is similar in approach to individual approaches, with the expansion of addressing the systemic and contextual needs of each unique family.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma.

Mission Statement

To strengthen and support families, children, and individuals in their search for their own self-fulfillment and optimal functioning. We believe in the benefit of therapy as a process of healing and growth for motivated individuals when provided with effective and solution driven strategies.

What to expect during therapy:

Therapy will be different for each individual and based on the unique needs of the presenting problems or situations. Therapy may be short-term and solution-focused for acute needs. Individuals or families with more extensive needs will be invited to engage in more intensive sessions to better achieve their specific goals.
